South Central Settlement and Employment Services is a regional program committed to helping immigrant newcomers adjust to life in a new community, and a new country.
Settlement services are provided to assist immigrants to settle, integrate and participate in their new community.
Settlement services include:
- Information/orientation about life in South Central Manitoba and Canada
- Information about health care, education, banking, the law, shopping, housing
- Connection to community services such as doctors, dentists, schools, etc
- Connection to English as an Additional Language training
- Assistance with filling out application forms for Manitoba Health, Social Insurance, Child Tax Benefits, Travel Documents, Citizenship, Permanent Resident Cards
- Support, information and assistance concerning immigration issues
- Liaison and resource for the community regarding issues that concern immigrants
- Language interpretation
Settlement services are funded by the Manitoba Immigrant Integration Program. All services are provided free of charge.
South Central Settlement and Employment Services also offer employment assistance to unemployed or underemployed individuals.
Employment services include:
- Personal assistance identifying job-related skills, developing a resume, cover letter, and/or work portfolio
- Assistance in preparation for job interviews
- Referrals to related programs for career and training services
- Group workshops on developing resumes, cover letters and job interview techniques
- Self-service job board for job search
- Computer access to the Internet for job search
- Computer access to create and print resumes
- Assistance with the process of Credentials Assessments and Qualifications Recognition
Employment Services are funded by The Government of Canada Employment Insurance Account and the Province of Manitoba. All services are provided free of charge.
The South Central Settlement and Employment Services main office is located at #100-571 Main Street in Winkler, with offices in Morden and Altona.
